New Vaccine for VS-FCV

CaliciVax^TM  manufactured by Fort Dodge Animal Health, a division of Wyeth is the

only vaccine licensed and proven effective against VS-FCV.  Our clinic has this vaccine

in inventory and are suggesting immediate vaccination to all of our feline clients.  Due

to the community threat, we are also offering the vaccine to non-clients as long as we

can verify that they have had an examination by a veterinarian within the past year.  The

vaccination requires an annual dose and two doses at the first administration, separated

by three weeks.

This same vaccine is available in the annual FVRCCP shot that is a normal part of feline

annual exams.  We are proud to announce that we will carry the new vaccine and it will

be given during annual exams automatically.  However, the first year will require a

second visit for the booster three weeks after the first exam (there will be no office

visit or exam fee on the second visit).
