Are cat physical exams really necessary?  Well, at the age of 13 years, my vet (who is also my owner) ran a routine blood test and discovered that I had an over-functioning thyroid.  There are a number of treatments from radiation or medication to thyroid removal.  Since my vet is such a great surgeon, I elected to have my thyroid removed, and after a two week recovery, I went back to my normal routine of overseeing the front desk at the hospital and (best of all) sleeping on my cushion right by the main computer monitor.  I have supervised data input at this hospital since they built it you know.

Well, now I have traveled on, to a new place over the rainbow, but be assured, I will continue to write this column so that we cats always get a word in.
